Homemade Fruit Leather: A Tasty Snack!

If you’re looking for a healthy and delicious snack, homemade fruit leather is the way to go! It’s easy to make and perfect for on-the-go munching. Here’s a quick recipe to get you started.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of your favorite fruit (fresh or frozen, like strawberries, mangoes, or apples)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on the sweetness of your fruit)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to enhance flavor and preserve color)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Fruit: If using fresh fruit, wash and chop it into smaller pieces. For frozen fruit, let it thaw slightly.
  2. Blend It Up: In a blender or food processor, combine the fruit, honey (if using), and lemon juice. Blend until smooth. If you prefer a chunkier texture, blend less.
  3. Prepare Your Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will prevent sticking and make it easier to peel off the fruit leather later.
  4. Spread It Out: Pour the blended fruit mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it evenly into a thin layer—about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Dry It Out: Preheat your oven to the lowest setting (usually around 170°F or 75°C). Place the baking sheet in the oven and let it dry for about 4-6 hours. The fruit leather is ready when it’s no longer sticky and feels pliable.
  6. Cool and Cut: Once dried, remove the fruit leather from the oven and let it cool completely. Use scissors to cut it into strips or squares.
  7. Store It: Roll up the strips in parchment paper or store them in an airtight container. They can last for several weeks!

Enjoy your homemade fruit leather as a healthy snack any time of day!
